Verdés has worked on a corporate social responsibility project to donate to the Igualada Social and Health Consortium. This donation will be used to purchase virtual reality glasses and immersive projection equipment for people with Alzheimer’s and other cognitive disorders.
From Verdés, sport is promoted internally among its collaborators through paddle tennis championships or in times of pandemic, when it has been possible, group and individual outdoor activities such as popular walks. In this way, its collaborators are encouraged to have a more active and healthy life.
We are part of a society that is increasingly connected through new technologies, and this allows companies and people to find out more easily about the reality that surrounds us and that we are more aware that it falls on us to lend a hand to society to help you improve it.
With the idea of combining the promotion of sport and contributing to the society around him, Verdés launched a corporate social responsibility project in May 2021 called “Sowing kms, Collecting Smiles”. The project consisted of uniting the four subsidiaries of the company in Portugal, Morocco, Algeria, and Russia with the headquarters in Vilanova del Camí through the kilometers traveled by its collaborators and upon reaching the goal, donate to the Igualada Social and Health Consortium (CSSI) intended for people with Alzheimer’s and other cognitive disorders.
To reach the goal of traveling 11,285kms, several teams were created. The participants had to report how many kilometers they had traveled walking, running, cycling, or swimming during the week and they were counted in the corresponding team.
With this internal team competition, a total implication was generated on the part of the collaborators to be able to be first among laughs. Finally, thanks to the efforts of everyone and especially the team “We are not so bad”, the winning team, the finish line was reached on November 9, 2021.
The donation made to the CSSI on November 22 at the Sant Jordi Day Hospital with the presence of directors and professionals from the center, will go towards the purchase of virtual reality glasses and immersive projection equipment for people suffering from cognitive disorders or Alzheimer’s treated at the Pare Vilaseca Residence and Day Center, at the Montserrat Day Center and at the Mar i Cel Day Center and at the Sant Jordi Day Hospital itself. These people will be able to use virtual reality and immersive projections to develop their memory and improve their well-being. They will be able to live experiences in which they will have the feeling of being transported to other places and relive evoked emotions and sensations. Through the use of virtual reality glasses and immersive projections, these people will be able to improve the development of cognitive skills and activities of daily living.
Corporate social responsibility projects are the ideal opportunity to contribute to society with the aim of improving it directly and without profit. This growing tendency to get involved in society and at the same time that people incorporate sport into their daily lives helps to improve health and the feeling of belonging to the world around us.
When companies and people collaborate beyond working hours, exciting projects arise, that allow one more step to be involved in society and, most important of all, that have the objective of helping those who need it.
The kilometers have been sown, now it’s time to collect the smiles.
